The REMEDY® Stemmed Knee Spacer is part of the treatment foreseen in a two-stage procedure performed in the event of permanent prosthesis infection. The REMEDY® Stemmed Knee Spacer implant is intended for temporary use only (180 days or less). A second surgery will be required at a later date to remove the REMEDY® Stemmed Knee Spacer and replace it with a permanent knee joint implant.
Single-Use, Sterile Device
REMEDY® Stemmed Knee Spacers are single-use medical devices, ethylene oxide sterile, and formed with bone cement (PMMA) and gentamicin.
Antibiotic Release
The REMEDY® Stemmed Knee Spacer allows basic joint mobility and releases antibiotics into the joint area to protect the implant from bacterial colonization.
Mechanical Strength
A stainless steel rod reinforces the stem extension, providing added mechanical strength.
Total System Interchangeability
The REMEDY® Stemmed Knee Spacer offers total system interchangeability. Femoral components are available in Small, Medium, Large, and XL. Tibial components are available in Small, Medium, and Large. Stem extensions are available in two lengths: 100mm and 175mm. A tibial wedge insert is available in Small, Medium, and Large when additional height is required.
